MDCA Open chess tourney-Ajith triumphs

Mysuru, Feb:18: Mysuru lad M.P.Ajith and V.P.S.Darshan (CAR, Police
Training school, Mysuru), tied with 6.5 points from seven rounds, but
the former's better tie-break score of 32.75 to the later's 29.25,
enabled Ajith to clinch the title in the Open category in the MDCA
Open chess tournament conducted by MDCA at the University gymnasium
hall here on Sunday.

V.P.S.Darshan finished second, while Chandrashekara Mayuraditya
(6pts-26.50), Prasiddhi Bhat (6 points, 23) and Sanath K Jamadagni (6
points, 22.50) secured the third, fourth and fifth places.

The open winners were given cash prizes while the category winners in
the boys and girls sections were given trophies. The prizes to the
winners were given away by K.R.Premaleela, Senior chess player,
Krishnamurthy, Sudharshan and K.R.Shivarame Gowda.

Final Placings: Open: 1. M.P.Ajith (6.5,32.75), 2. V.P.S.Darshan
(6.5,29.25), 3. Chandrashekara Mayuraditya (6, 26.50), 4. Prasiddhi
Bhat (6, 23), 5. Sanath K Jamdagni (6, 22.50).
